Local AttractionsTralee and Fenit Harbour is located adjacent to Fenit village, a small village with a grocery shop, two small hotels, two restaurants, pubs and guest-houses. Local activities include golfing at one 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed course and two 9-hole courses within 5 miles of Fenit, horse riding and swimming on the many beaches nearby including the Blue Flag beach beside Fenit Harbour. The nearest large town is Tralee located 8 miles away. Its attractions include the Aquadome, Mediaeval Tralee Exhibition, Kerry County Museum, National Folk Theatre, Steam Train and Blennerville Windmill. Activites in Tralee include tennis, golf, pitch and putt, indoor adventure playground, horse racing and greyhound racing. The famous Rose of Tralee Festival and Tralee Races take place each year in late August. Travel LinksAirports Kerry Regional airport is 30km from Fenit, with several flights to Dublin each day and a daily connection to London. Other European destinations are serviced, but on a less regular basis. Road The roadway system to Fenit is excellent, having been upgraded to accommodate the transportation of large crane components. Tralee is serviced by national routes N21, N22, N69 and N70 allowing stress free driving to the airports at Cork and Shannon, both two hours drive away. Road R558 connects Fenit to Tralee. Rail & Bus Tralee has a main-line railway station with direct links to Dublin and Cork. The national bus network has a hub in Tralee, with several daily connections to the airports at Shannon and Cork. |
